Required documents for IELTS registration

To book your IELTS test, you'll need the following documents:

• Valid Identification Document: Ensure you have your passport or national ID card. Please note that Swiss Exams can only accept ID cards from Swiss or EU citizens. During registration, you'll be required to upload a clear photocopy of your ID card. If the candidate is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must register on their behalf using their own email address.

• Bank Card: You'll need a bank card to make the test payment. Swiss Exams allows you to pay for your test through our secure online registration system, which accepts Mastercard, Visa, or PayPal.

Steps to book your IELTS test via the British Council registration website

1. Choose the exam type

You can choose from IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training and IELTS for UK Visas.

• IELTS Academic: Suitable for those planning to study or join a professional organization worldwide
• IELTS General Training: Ideal for individuals looking to study at below-degree levels or work globally
• IELTS UKVI: Specifically for candidates that are applying for Visa to the UK

2. Select an IELTS exam location:

Swiss Exams offers IELTS English tests throughout Switzerland, with test centres in cities like Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, St. Gallen, and Winterthur.

If you are registering for IELTS Academic, you can also choose the IELTS Online option at this step.

3. Choose a test date and register:

Browse the available test dates and select the one that suits your schedule. Swiss Exams provides multiple date options for your convenience.

4. Confirmation email from Swiss Exams Customer Service:

After you've successfully booked your IELTS test, we will verify your registration and documents, then send you an invoice. Once you've completed the registration process, including payment, you'll receive a confirmation email with essential information:

• The start time of your IELTS exam and the venue address
• Your Speaking Test date
• Access to our free online preparation courses: Road to IELTS Last Minute version

Test Taker Portal

You will also gain access to the Test Taker Portal, which is your hub for all IELTS test-related information. After taking the IELTS test, your results will be available in this portal, typically within 3-5 days of the test date.

Within the Test Taker Portal, you can order up to five additional copies of Test Report Forms (TRFs) free of charge. This service is available from the time of your test booking to up to two years after your test date.
